Fellowship Lunch, Sept. 29th!

Sunday Sept. 29 Join City Church in the cafeteria at noon for the Fourth Sunday Fellowship Lunch. This month the church is providing hot dogs, rolls, the condiments and beverage. Sign up to bring a dish, or dessert. All are welcome!

Women’s Fellowship Prayer Hour

Women of City Church are cordially invited to join together each Friday morning at 10:00 for an hour of prayer at the home of Sue Peck. We will begin each Friday morning promptly at 10:00 with some words of encouragement, followed by 45 minutes of prayer.

Bring On Play (BOP) 

  • BOP has a series of family-oriented events to offer over the next few weeks. Including…
  • September 27 (Friday) 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM – Yorktown Park Kaboom! Renovation
  • October 3 (Thursday) 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Isaac’s Fundraiser Dine In/Take Out (BOP earns 15% of sales)
  • October 12 (Saturday) 10 AM – until completion – BOPstacle Race III in Downtown York ($80/4 adult team)

York YMCA Youth, Teen and Family Programs

The York YMCA is offering the following fall sport programs:

  • Outdoor soccer league for boys and girls ages 4-11 – beginning September 21st
  • Father/child basketball camp for fathers with children ages 6-11 – October 11th and 25th
  • Intramural volleyball for girls ages 11-15 – beginningNovember 25th
  • Basketball league for boys and girls ages 4-14 – beginning December 7th

YORK CITY RECREATION AND PARKS BUREAU

2011 SUMMER MOVIE SERIES

AT KIWANIS LAKE

The summer movie series will be held at Kiwanis Lake, North Newberry Street and Parkway Blvd on Wednesday evenings starting at dusk (8:30 pm) from June 1st to August 17th .  This is a free public event.  All are welcome to attend this family oriented movie series.  Bring a lawn chair or a blanket, a concessionaire is on hand to sell refreshments…relax and enjoy the movie.

York Arts will be in the park on June 8, June 29 and August 10 with a free ART IN THE PARK program from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

York City Labor Day Activities

York City Labor Day Activities

1218723_fireworksThe annual Labor Day Festival is scheduled to be held on Monday, September 7 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kiwanis Lake. A fireworks display starts at 9 p.m. During the course of the day there will free entertainment, food vendors, game vendors, carnival rides, a flea market, fishing derby, a parade and crafts. The 2009 Labor Day Festival is being sponsored by York City Recreation and Parks, the United Way of York County, the York-Adams County Central Labor Council, Production Express, Bricker’s Fries and Harvey’s Rent-All. Street parking is available around the Kiwanis Lake area.

In case of rain the event will be rescheduled to Tuesday, Sept. 8th at 6 p.m. For more information call Tom Landis at 854-1587. The following is an entertainment schedule.

Upcoming neighborhood events – York City Limits

The city’s Olde Towne East neighborhood will hold a back-to-school ice cream party for the neighborhood’s kids from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at Renaissance Park, located in the 200 block of East Princess Street.

Activities include make-your-own sundaes, book and school supply giveaways, Donna the Book Lady and more.
