Spring 2011: An Update from City Church York

Spring 2011: An Update from City Church York

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

Let me take a few moments to update you on all the Lord has been doing in and through our little church plant in York City, PA.

In January we moved into our new worship space at the newly constructed Logos Academy in York City! The space has been a tremendous blessing to us.

The auditorium seats 250 and expands beyond that. It is fully equipped with a sound system, projectors, lighting, etc. In addition, many of the families whose children attend Logos have visited City Church on Sunday mornings. We currently have over 120 people who are a regular part of City Church. Over 50 of those are children!

We have been blessed with so many people who willingly serving the church. Opportunities abound to work with kids, care for infants, run sound and media on Sunday mornings, lead discipleship groups, assist with administrative matters, to open homes for community dinners or to get involved in the life of the City. Please pray that we continue to do a good job getting people connected to serving in the church.

Please continue to also pray for the following:

Discipleship: We are currently in the midst of our third round of discipleship groups. In our current study we are looking more closely at the mission of the Church. In two weeks we will be starting a Sunday morning discipleship group for those who have been unable to attend Sunday evenings. In addition, we are excited to be starting a Crossroads addiction recovery study. We have two very capable men who have stepped forward to lead. Please pray for fruit as we work to make disciples of Jesus.

Community Dinners: Each week a different home is opened for church-wide and community hospitality. These weekly dinners have been a hit thus far! Many of the meals have as many as 40 people attending for fellowship and encouragement. Please pray that the Lord would use these groups to expand our evangelism efforts.

Leadership Development: I recently attended a church planter’s conference hosted by the Sovereign Grace folks and was reminded of Paul’s instructions to Timothy to entrust faithful men with the task of leadership. Please pray that the Lord will give us wisdom as we seek to provide opportunities to test leadership gifts.

Community Development: City Church is beginning to partner with several churches in the Salem Square neighborhood to serve the community. Please pray that the Lord blesses our efforts to impact the neighborhood.

Finances: The Lord continues to do exceedingly and abundantly above what we ask or think. We are so grateful for the part that many of you have played in prayer and financial support. Your continued support enables us to focus on Gospel ministry.

On a more personal note, Gail and I welcomed our fifth child on November 26th. His name is David Aaron Anderson and we are grateful to God for this tremendous gift. Please continue to pray for us as we juggle family, school, ministry, sports, music lessons, etc.

It really is a privilege and an honor to preach Christ and Him crucified to a City that desperately needs the Hope of the Gospel. Thanks again for your partnership!

Grace and peace to you on behalf of the City Church family,
Aaron Anderson
